A person who spiked sweets with sleeping medication and provided them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two young males who were nine and ten years old.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight youngsters and an older person experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.
Yet, he denied a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, outlined Ruben's offending to the court.
She said his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
Ruben engaged in a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel stated, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had played this game with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously become sick the next day.
She explained the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had suspicions in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "Recently" his stepchild had concerns about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They chose" to have a look in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC said objects including baby oil, Vaseline and syringes were discovered, and his stepson notified the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She said the man proceeded to engage in the "sweet game" with six youngsters that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"The police had not gone out by that stage," she stated further.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was examining law enforcement's management of the situation.
Mrs Prior explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson notified the law enforcement again.
She explained the man then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five children.
